Down with the Job

So people are starting to acknowledge me now at my new job. In the beginning, people with requests would completely bypass me and approach the older guys in the department believing I'm way too inexperienced and or incapable of doing what they needed to be done. Which is understandable, since I am relatively new but I hate it when I'm the only one there and they would look for someone to help and decides to leave and come back later. But I showed them, two production applications went down after an upgrade the other day that stumped even the veterans of the department and the vendor of the application. And do you know who fixed this problem..? Me.
It was so funny, because everyone was discussing the problem and trying to figure what could be the root cause and when I asked if I could try something, they all looked at me with the expression of "what could this newbie do..?" But woe and behold, I tinkered with the code and restarted the apps with no issues. They all stared in bewildered awe at the newbie. LOL Their faces were absolutely priceless that I wish I could have taken a picture. My boss' boss even complimented me. LOL
My only regret is now people approach me more often than before. I use to have quiet days where I just manage the mundane daily tasks. I can take my lunch on schedule and leave work on time but now I get delayed by a couple of minutes here and there. Still it's nice to be acknowlegded.

Akemashite Omedetto. I hope you guys had a good new year day unlike me I spent in bed sick. I was sick from Dec 31st to Jan 2nd. I didn't really got to celebrate the event. People called me all night round though which was nice. Anyways hopefully, this year brings all of you (as well as me, of course) peace and prosperity in all that you desire.

Where does he get those wonderful toys.

So they finally gave me all the pretty toys that my co-workers use. Some are even newer version than what my collegues have. One of the pretty perk is a new blackberry. It's called the blackberry curve. My blackberry is colour black though so if you want to see how it really loioks like click on the black colour. I must say it's such a wonderful piece of gadgetry. couldn't put the device down when I first got it. I'm actually debating if I should just cancel my cell phone and just use the blackberry for all my mobile needs. It's all paid off for and I can use it for anything since it's new and have no restricting policies. I'm the envy of the department since I'm the first one to get it. The other perk is a work issued laptop. It's not very new and it's riddled with restricting policies but it serves its purpose. I can work at home if so desired. There are also other little perks such as taking lunch at any time you want, leaving early from time to time, and coming in late is not such a big issue. Moving to this department has been a right choice by far.

That's right. I got the job! You're looking at the new Business Analyst in the DBO 2nd Level Support Department for CI Investments. I heard that the competition was pretty stiff and it came down to who the team recommended and since I had great relation with those guys, I was selected. So in about two weeks or so, I'll be starting a new career.

New Job Possibility

nervous
Well I got me an interview for a new position in a different department for the same company. The position is called Business Analyst and it mostly deals with testing various software for business purposes. A little different from System Analyst that I went for in school but it involves some regression testing and it is a stepping stone to my future goal. You know, Lord and Master of the Universe. So now I gotta follow Barney's example, suit up, get psyched and be awesome. In case you don't know who Barney is you're missing out on a real very funny show called "How I met your mother." Look it up. If you want you can borrow my DVD's of the show. And yeah that's how good the show is that a notorious pirate like me bought the actual DVDs instead of bittorrenting the show. That says alot because that show is Legen-- wait for it -- dary!! Anyways, wish me luck.

Monster Hunter Freedom 2

I'd been playing this game way more than Halo 3. I just love hunting things and randomly seeing the new enemies. So far there are two new gorillas to fight, two new huge crabs and alot elder dragons. The elder dragons are tough. One has a constant effect of wind pressure so I don't know how to kill it yet. So far I'm not tired of this game yet.

Gaming Satisfaction.

Finally got this game a few days ago and it's so much fun especially playing with a friend on co-op. Me and Cifer blazed it up for a couple hours this past Saturday and it is really impressive. We did experience a weird frame freeze every so often but it disappeared after a little later.
On anime news, I finished watching School Days and all I can say is WTF!! It was totally different from what I expected. I was expecting a comedy romance where there's a lot of love triangle like Ichigo 100% but it turned really disturbing half way through. I mean there was a double murder at the end and body disegration and necrophilia. All I could say was WTF!!

New Laptop

So I got a new laptop over the weekend. It's an HP Pavilion, 2 GHz processor, 260 GB HD and 2 GB of RAM, for only $1,099.00 from Best Buy. It was originally priced at $1,599.00 and I got the last one in stock on the last day of the sale. LUCKY!!! It's such a beautiful laptop the only draw back is Windows Vista. I have to upgrade ALL my software since it always complains "the program will is not compatible with this version of windows." So I'd been surfing the net to look for higher versions of the software I use. *sigh*
On the martial arts of things, Judo started up again and it's great to get back into it. I saw all my old my Judo buddies and we laughed at all the things that happened over the summer. In any case, I'm surprise I remember all the things that was thought last year. I figured after a year break I'll forget everything. I've also resolved the issues I had with the new Aikido teacher and I will be re-starting aikido again as soon as I get the funds.
On the video game side on things, I've purchased Monster Hunter 2 and it's just as addictive as MH1. I mean who can resist fighting a giant pink gorilla that farts on command. :D On that note, I'm off to play my PSP.

Laptop died.

Wow, it's been a while. Ever since they've blocked this site from work, I haven't been able to check it out much. So anyways, my laptop finally died. Well technically it's not dead yet, it just keeps rebooting because windows got corrupted BUT to fix it I need to buy a new laptop keyboard. So I've decided to buy a new laptop instead since the old laptop is getting obsolete anyways (256 MB RAM, 40 GB HD and 1.2 MHz processor). I had it for about 5-6 years so I figured it's time for an upgrade. It's a shame since I have to postpone buying a new TV and a PS3 now. Oh well.

Well I'm a year older again. When are you suppose to have that mid-life crisis again..? Anyways, it was a fun birthday this year. I got to spend it at canada's wonderland and be reminded how it is to be a kid again. Thanks for all the people who called and came to see me on my day. Especially to those who came from so far away enduring hours of travel time. I appreciate it.
